PLEASE READ THE FAQ BEFORE  EMAILING DR. SCHECHTER

1)      What if I have a specific medical question about my condition…?

A: Due to ethical and legal issues, Dr. Schechter is unable to answer specific questions about your condition via email unless you have been seen and examined in his office.

2)      Are there doctors in other cities that I can see regarding TMS?

A: There are a number of such doctors  See the doctors page for other physicians that have expressed interest in this area.

3)      What can I do if I can't come to Los Angeles and I don't live near any of the other doctors?

A: First, see a qualified physician in your local area.  Consider a neurologist, physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor, or orthopedist. Have that doctor examine you and see if they are comfortable with a "conservative" or non-surgical program.  If so, ask if you can include a TMS or mindbody program in that plan. Then read the books available on the subject, listen to my audioprogram on CD's or tapes, and use the workbook.  Continue to have that local doctor monitor your progress.  Good luck.

3)      Are there any other options if I live in California, but can't come to Dr. Schechter's office due to pain or distance??

A: In limited instances, Dr. Schechter can offer advice, to individuals in the state of California who have not seen him face-to-face as a patient. The requirements are: you will need to send him, via mail or fedex, a copy of a recent consultation report with a spine specialist such as ortho, physical medicine, or neurology. You will need to include a recent MRI report and/or films. You will need to pre-pay for a scheduled thirty to forty-five minute telephone consult can be arranged. Insurance does not cover this service, and the fee is $300. Email the doctor, or fax the office if you believe this is the only way you can be treated for possible TMS.

4)      Can you refer me to any psychologists in my area?

A: At this time, we have no psychology referrals available except in Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, and Seattle.  Speak with the doctor in your area and they may know of someone.
